St. Maria Goretti welcomes new principal

St. Maria Goretti High School, Hagerstown, has appointed Richard Fairley as principal effective July 1, replacing Christopher M. Siedor.

Mr. Fairley has been educating students for 24 years in private and Catholic education, and has spent the past 10 as an administrator in Catholic high schools in Frederick and Baltimore, most recently as vice principal for academics at The Cardinal Gibbons School, Baltimore.

Educated in Catholic schools, Mr. Fairley brings a great understanding and love of the traditions and foundations which are the cornerstone and strength of St. Maria Goretti High School, said a press release distributed by the school.

Mr. Fairley expressed his “honor at joining this prestigious school.”

He holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore.

Parents will have the opportunity to meet Mr. Fairley at a welcome orientation Aug. 19.

Mr. Fairley and his wife, Catharine, reside in Frederick County with their three children: Michael, 13; Ian, 12; and Grace, 4.
