Sister Mary Raymond Logue, S.S.N.D, dies

A funeral Mass for Sister Mary Raymond Logue, S.S.N.D., born Elizabeth Carolyn Logue, was offered May 15 at Villa Assumpta. Sister Mary Raymond Logue died May 9; she was 70.

Sister Mary Raymond attended St. Wenceslaus School and the Institute of Notre Dame, both in Baltimore. In September of 1956, she joined the School sisters of Notre Dame at her alma mater, IND, and entered the novitiate a year later at the former Motherhouse on Aisquith Street.

Sister Mary Raymond taught seventh and eighth grades at St. Mary’s in Annapolis, from 1963 to 1964. In 1965, Sister Mary Raymond obtained a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from College of Notre Dame of Maryland.

In 1971, Sister Mary Raymond returned to Baltimore to minister as principal of St. Benedict. In 1976 she began her longest ministry of 28 years serving as the principal at St. Michael Elementary School in Silver Spring until 2004. A portion of her 28 years she also served as president of the Association of Elementary Principals in Washington, D.C.

Sister Mary Raymond also taught in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
