Sister Cecilia Rose, D.C., dies

A funeral Mass for Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul Cecilia Rose will be offered Jan. 25 at the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg. Sister Cecilia died Jan. 17. She was 88.
A sister for 69 years, Sister Cecilia served as a teacher, nurse, nursing school director and hospital administrator. In the Archdiocese of Baltimore, she worked at the St. Joseph Provincial House in Emmitsburg from 1945 to 1948, Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland from 1975 to 1987 and 2001 to 2002, St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore from 1987 to 1996 and the Seton Shrine in Emmitsburg from 1996 to 2001. In 2007, she returned to Emmitsburg, where she lived until her death.
A Pennsylvania native, Sister Cecilia also served in Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New York, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
