St. John the Evangelist School, located in beautiful Long Green Valley, is an Archdiocesan Collaborative School providing preschool (half- and all-day), elementary school, and middle school. With an average yearly enrollment of 200 students, St. John’s offers an intimate environment and small class sizes.
The curriculum follows the Archdiocese of Baltimore Course of Study for Elementary Schools. In addition to the content areas, our students attend specialty classes including Spanish, religion, art, music, computer, library and gym. They participate in Accelerated Reader, a program that promotes reading and enhances comprehension.
Our technology driven school has SMART Boards in its classrooms, a computer lab, Microsoft Surface tablets, a broadcast studio, teacher websites, and uses PowerSchool. Students can choose from numerous extracurricular activities at the school and parish. Extended care services are available from 3-6 p.m. for all ages.
St. John the Evangelist students are encouraged to see themselves as important parts of a larger community and to make choices and decisions with a view of the common good rather than seeking personal gain. When our eighth graders graduate from St. John’s, they are equipped to excel at a Catholic, private, or public high school both personally and academically.
In 2012, the Archdiocese of Baltimore used updated national norms to calculate the scores. You cannot compare test performance this year to test performance prior to 2012.
