Princeton professor to give Martin Luther King Jr. address

Eddie Glaude, professor of religion and African-American studies at Princeton University, will deliver the keynote address at Loyola College in Maryland’s 15th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation on Jan. 17.

The keynote address is titled “Race, Religion and Changing Demographics.”

Mr. Glaude’s most recent book, “In A Shade of Blue,” makes an impassioned plea for black America to address social problems with a focus on future potential, rather than past ideals. He is the author of “Exodus! Religion, Race and Nation in Early 19th Century Black America” and is the editor of “Is it Nation Time? Contemporary Essays on Black Power and Black Nationalism” and co-editor of “American-American Religious Thought: An Anthology.”

The convocation, which begins at 7 p.m., will be held in McGuire Hall on the college’s North Charles Street campus.
