Naming rosary after ranger is sacrilegious

How can we make the Blessed Virgin weep?

How about taking the sacramental that is associated with her and with world peace and naming it for an elite corps of killers – say, a “Ranger Rosary?” (CR, April 5)

Sending rosaries to the men and women in America’s armed forces is commendable. And giving the rosary a certain “nickname” is not inconsistent with our Catholic heritage, or even our wonderful tradition of Catholic humor. But to name a rosary after a group that has one mission – to kill – is sacrilegious.
