Ministries Conference aimed at renewing faith

Ralph Martin, Neal Lozano, Charles Whitehead, Tammy Evevard, and Father Francis Martin will be among the major presenters at the 2011 National Leaders and Ministries Conference Nov. 4-6 at the BWI Marriott.

Organizers expect between 400 and 600 attendees for the conference, which has the theme “(We Are) Standing on Holy Ground).”

Among those encouraged to come: prayer group leaders, ministry leaders, Life in the Spirit lecturers, diocesan liaisons, convent community leaders and ethnic community leaders.

Julie Sawyer, who is a co-liaison of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal with her husband, Bob, said there would be “inspirational speakers who have a message for the church today.”

Sawyer said there would be an emphasis on passing on the faith with fervor to young people, while attendees will be energized by the Holy Spirit to take up the task of evangelization.

Sawyer said the conference will be “an oasis of faith away from the world increasingly hostile to faith.”

Those who want to contribute to ministry will be better equipped after the weekend, Sawyer said. The conference will also pray for the canonization of Servant of God Mother Mary Lange, foundress of the Oblate Sisters of Providence.

Ralph Martin is from the Renewal Ministries and “The Choices We Face.” Lozano is executive director of Heart of the Father Ministries and wrote “Unbound: A Practical Guide to Deliverance.”

A special Young Adult Track for 18 to 35 year-old young adults will be held Nov. 5. Many have already registered and spots are still available. Father Martin, a priest from the Archdiocese of Washington, will speak on the priest, deacon and seminarian and the church renewal.

If you are serving in the church in any way or seeking personal growth in the spirit, you are invited.
