Magliano bashes United States
Unlike other articles in The Catholic Review that express love of God and God’s love for us, every one of Tony Magliano’s columns that I have read expresses his apparent dislike of the United States of America and its policies and actions over the last 200 years or so.
The United States is one of the few countries in the world that permit such opinions from its own citizens, and I would not suggest that he be stopped; however, I am confused as to why The Catholic Review runs his columns. I would understand if his writings were in a secular newspaper, but I get no religious feelings from his articles.
If I follow his logic, I believe he is saying the world would be a much better place if the United States had never existed or if we had been wiped out in war. Can it be that every war we fought in, the other side was right, and the United States was wrong?
Yes, the United States, like all countries, makes mistakes, does good and bad – but where else you would rather live? Tell me you cannot see the goodness in this country and its intentions. The amount of aid the United States and its people give to the world is not matched by any other country.
