Lobby Night is Feb. 21

Catholics from across the archdiocese will converge on Annapolis this President’s Day, Feb. 21, to learn about legislative issues facing the Maryland General Assembly and to meet their lawmakers.

Sponsored by the Maryland Catholic Conference, the event begins at 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s High School, with prayer and a commissioning from Maryland bishops. Issue briefings will follow from 3:30-4:15 p.m.

Beginning at 5:15 p.m, participants will meet and discuss legislative concerns with their district’s representatives.

Among the key issues to be considered in Annapolis this year include the legalization of same-sex marriage, a business tax credit benefitting nonpublic and public school students, better regulation of abortion clinics and the protection of social safety-net programs.

A suggested donation of $5 will be collected to help defray the costs of the day.
