Life trumps all issues

An article (CR, Sept. 24) describes the steps to be taken by University of Notre Dame leader Father John I. Jenkins to atone for his poor choice of a commencement speaker. I applaud Father Jenkins for this.

The article also noted that “Several Catholics who supported the Obama invitation said using a single issue as a litmus test to be honored at a Catholic university is a troubling concept.” But calling abortion a single issue is the weakest argument of all. Life is the most important issue, for without it, these children can never benefit from the programs offered by our society. They can never “know Him, love Him, and serve Him in this world.” Life trumps all other issues. To think otherwise is truly a troubling concept.
