Leaders fall short of protecting pre-born

On Jan. 22, 1973, the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade legalized abortion in the United States. Since this infamous decision, more than 50 million American pre-born children, innocent victims, have died by abortion. Abortion is the deliberate killing of a child in the womb of his or her mother.

In Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court did not recognize the personhood of the child in utero. If the court did recognize the personhood of the pre-born child, then the 14th Amendment would have guaranteed the child the right to life.

The pro-life movement has truth on our side. Scientific advances in the field of embryology and ultra-sound technology enable the mother to see her child in the womb. A picture is worth a thousand words.

These images provide a compelling case for the fact that the pre-born child is alive. Each pre-born child is a person made in the image and likeness of Almighty God.

Regrettably, our government has chosen to ignore the truth. Since January of this year, President Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have launched an assault against the life of children in the womb that is unprecedented in American history.

The House’s Nov. 7 approval of an amendment that prohibits federal funds to pay for abortion in the Affordable Health Care for America Act was a positive step, but it does not erase the Obama-Pelosi assault against the unborn since January.
