Full house for Bishop Rozanski’s Springfield installation Mass

By Catholic Review Staff
Native Baltimorean and Archdiocese of Baltimore auxiliary Bishop Mitchell T. Rozanski was installed as the ninth bishop of the Diocese of Springfield, Mass., during a 2 p.m. Mass at the Cathedral of St. Michael in Springfield Aug. 12.
Pope Francis announced the bishop’s new appointment June 19.

Bishop Rozanski, who served the Archdiocese of Baltimore for 30 years, was joined in Springfield by Archbishop William E. Lori and Cardinal Edwin F. O’Brien, archbishop emeritus of Baltimore. Bishop Rozanski succeeds Bishop Timothy A. McDonnell, who has served as Springfield’s bishop since 2004.
“As I look back on the last 30 years, I just feel greatly blessed to have been called to the priesthood and to be able to minister to God’s people,” Bishop Rozanski told the Catholic Review in a recent interview.
