Father Gilbert Seitz celebrates his 25th anniversary

While growing up at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Baynesville, Father Gilbert Seitz said he met some very inspiring priests including Cardinal James F. Stafford, Monsignor Robert Armstrong, Monsignor James McGovern and Monsignor Arthur Bastress.
After his ordination in 1982, Father Seitz served for about three years at the Church of the Annunciation, Rosedale until around 1985 when he was assigned to St. Patrick, Cumberland. Six years later he was reassigned to St. Francis de Sales, Abingdon for about four years. Since 1996 he has been in the Tribunal Office at the Catholic Center working as a Canon lawyer while helping at Sacred Heart, Glyndon on the weekends.
“Every time you have an opportunity to celebrate Mass it’s a wonderful moment where you are literally touching the face of Jesus,” said Father Seitz. “We’ve learned how important it is to be in contact with other people who bring their gifts to serve the church.”
Father Seitz said for young men thinking about becoming priests they should do it because “there is no better way to spend your life.” He said being a priest is a great opportunity to enrich others and “to be enriched by other’s faith and goodness.”
