SUMMARY:Thresholds of Our Lenten Journey - Day Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Friends Day of Prayer \nThroughout the Gospel narratives\, Jesus encounters significant thresholds that he must cross as he journeys to Jerusalem\, and he invites his followers\, who are sometimes reluctant\, to accompany him. We also encounter important thresholds in our own lives. Through presentations\, guided meditation\, journaling\, private time\, and group sharing\, we will reflect on how together with Jesus we can recognize and cross the thresholds of our Lenten journey. \nAll are welcome to attend the Friends Day of Prayer retreats\, held monthly on the first Wednesday of the month. It is not required to attend every month\, so register for one or more sessions as your schedule allows. While the presenters and topics vary\, each Friends Day of Prayer typically includes pastries and informal conversation at 9:30am\, a morning presentation at 10am\, an optional Mass\, a delicious lunch\, short periods of free time to enjoy the grounds or shop in the bookstore\, and an afternoon presentation. Guided by Sr. Jo-Ann Flora.

SUMMARY:Lunch & Dialogue: The Sacred Life of Bread
DESCRIPTION:Uncovering the Mystery of an Ordinary Loaf \nHave you ever wondered about the origins of bread? Or\, how and why bread has come to symbolize everything from nourishing sustenance and vitality to community\, social connection\, and cultural traditions? Overall\, bread represents life itself to countless civilizations and religions\, especially in the rituals they observe and celebrate. We take for granted just how much the pursuit and consumption of this ubiquitous food staple has become woven into the fabric or our everyday lives and spiritual journeys. \nWith these questions and realizations in mind\, you are invited to join facilitator Gordon Creamer for a delicious lunch and dialogue about The Sacred Life of Bread: Uncovering the Mystery of an Ordinary Loaf by Meghan Murphy-Gill. In this 2023 work\, the author vividly explores the life of bread\, which is as ordinary as it is sacred. In a distinct way\, this text uplifts the multitude of blessings that this substance is to its recipients\, especially a path toward understanding the inner workings of the world\, its inhabitants\, and the rich relationship between the two. Murphy-Gill also explores the world of bread and the nuances of meaning it carries\, inviting her readers into the “practice of bread\,” which reveals deep spiritual implications for both communion and fulfillment. \nAs we navigate life within these challenging times\, this gathering is intended to provide nourishment for both body and spirit. During the program portion of this session\, participants will have opportunities for encountering the text with prayerful pauses\, creative and contemplative exercises\, and group dialogue. A tasty closing ritual will conclude our time together. Prior reading of The Sacred Life of Bread is not mandatory but may prove beneficial. This retreat begins with lunch. Guided by Gordon Creamer.

SUMMARY:Unbind Him and Let Him Go Free - Weekend Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Jesus’ Healing Ministry of Forgiveness \nLike the people of Jesus’s time\, we are astonished by the “great deeds” of his miracles and cures. But we may not focus as much on Jesus’ healing ministry — the times he reaches out to touch someone’s isolation and spiritual brokenness. \nJoin us for a weekend of prayer and reflection as we ponder how allowing Jesus’ healing touch for ourselves invites us to reach out in compassion and forgiveness to “unbind” others. This weekend will include periods of silence as well as times for sacred sharing. There will also be limited times for individual spiritual direction. Guided by Joy Aker and Elaine Ireland.

SUMMARY:O'Dwyer Retreat Center - A Lenten Morning Retreat on Listening
DESCRIPTION:This Lent\, we invite ministers and all adults seeking spiritual renewal to a morning of prayer and reflection. In the busyness of ministry and daily life\, our hearts can easily become crowded\, leaving little room to truly hear God and the people around us. \nRooted in the Lenten message of Pope Leo XIV\, who reminds us that every authentic path of conversion begins with listening—to God\, to His Word\, and to one another—this retreat offers space to pause\, reconnect with the Lord\, and rediscover listening as the beginning of genuine love. \nThrough prayer\, guided reflection\, and shared silence\, we will reveal what might be preventing authentic listening\, so we can practice listening differently. Together\, we will examine the interior habits\, assumptions\, and reactions that hinder true encounter\, embracing fasting not only from food\, but from presumption\, quick answers\, and the need to control—so that we may truly hear\, respond\, and love more deeply in our families\, workplaces\, ministries\, and communities. \nCome and “fill your cup” so you may return to daily life renewed in spirit and attentive to the voice of the Holy Spirit.

Those interested in the vocation of caregiving may also participate. The retreat will be on Saturday\, March 21\, 2026\, about 8:30AM\, after the 8AM Daily Mass\, in the St. Louis main church. SUMMARY:The Donkey & the Divine: Reflecting on Lent through the Poetry of Mary Oliver - Day Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered about the donkey who carried Jesus on that triumphant\, palm-waving journey into Jerusalem? Was he merely a practical choice\, or does his quiet presence offer something more to consider during the Lenten season? Or perhaps you’ve pondered what the people on the hillside must have felt when a bounty of fish and bread was suddenly provided to take away their hunger pains. And what about the disciples who could not stay awake?! Oh\, what they must have felt like in the morning. Mary Oliver\, beloved poet and spiritual guide of the ordinary\, invites us into these sacred moments with her deep noticing and provocative wonderings. Her poetry opens our hearts to the small\, overlooked details and invites us to care more deeply\, to wonder more freely\, and to listen with greater attention. In this day-long retreat\, we will engage with selected poems by Mary Oliver in anticipation of Holy Week. Our rhythm for the day will include sacred reading and deep listening\, introductions to simple spiritual practices to accompany our personal reflections and responses\, and time to share with one another in sacred community. Come with your curiosity\, your longing for a spacious day\, and your desire to see with fresh eyes in this season. Let the poetry of Mary Oliver be a lantern as we walk with Jesus — and a humble donkey — on the road to Jerusalem. Lunch is included. Guided by Lorie Conway.
