SUMMARY:Laughter is the Best Medicine - Friends Day of Prayer Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Serious times demand humor as one critical means of coping. This April Fool’s Day\, celebrate being a “fool for Christ’s sake” (1 Cor. 4:10) as we consider the importance of humor in a wholistic way as an integral part of our life’s journey. There will be an opportunity for story telling (using Sacred Scripture and other sources)\, personal reflection\, and group sharing — with much laughter (and maybe some tears)! \nAll are welcome to attend the Friends Day of Prayer retreats\, held monthly on the first Wednesday of the month. It is not required to attend every month\, so register for one or more sessions as your schedule allows. While the presenters and topics vary\, each Friends Day of Prayer typically includes pastries and informal conversation at 9:30am\, a morning presentation at 10am\, an optional Mass\, a delicious lunch\, short periods of free time to enjoy the grounds or shop in the bookstore\, and an afternoon presentation. DESCRIPTION:With a dimly lit church\, a rarely seen candle holder and somber tones\, Tenebrae (Latin for “darkness” or “shadows”) is a unique and special service\, adapted from ninth century medieval Roman Catholic practices\, marking the days of Holy Week with readings\, music and candles extinguished one by one. On April 1\, 7:30 p.m.\, in St. Ignatius’ main church\, will host a Tenebrae service.
