Archbishop William E. Lori will celebrate a special Mass to mark “World Day of the Sick” and to commemorate the apparition of Our Lady at Lourdes.
Members of the Order of Malta will participate and provide bottles of Lourdes water and prayer cards for healing to participants. Healing prayers will be offered immediately after Mass for anyone who is ill.
Anyone interested in receiving the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick (typically if one is seriously ill and in danger of dying), is encouraged to receive the Sacrament of Confession before Mass either at their home parish or at the Basilica. Confession will be available at the Basilica that day from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Physicians and medical students are encouraged to wear their white coats/jackets to the Mass. Caretakers of individuals who are ill and anyone who wishes to pray for an ill loved one or friend are also encouraged to attend the Mass.
Parking at the Franklin Street Garage is free until 12 noon. This Mass fulfills the Sunday Obligation. For more information, email email@example.com.
