Deadline for fall registration of Equip for Ministry, the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s formation education program for parish and school lay ministers and volunteers, is Sept. 20.
The program debuted earlier this year to great success, said Mae Richardson, coordinator for pastoral leadership in the office of Catechetical and Pastoral Formation. Richardson said the program is a comprehensive experience.
“I think what people who have participated in the courses thus far have found is that once they get the courage of ‘I’m going to take this course,’ they find the process is very easy,” Richardson said.
Equip for Ministry is divided into two levels and inspired by the four areas of formation – spiritual, human, intellectual and pastoral – outlined in the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ document, Co-Workers In the Vineyard.
Richardson said participants have been surprised by how engaged they’ve been in courses and the depth they’ve explored.
“The feedback we’ve gotten back is that they’re excited,” Richardson said.
