CRS thanks St. Vincent de Paul for generous donation

Baltimore-based Catholic Relief Services President Ken Hackett formally thanked Archbishop Edwin F. O’Brien and St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore for nearly $18,000 in recent contributions to fund aid for people in impoverished parts of the world.

“Your gift will have a profound impact on the lives of the people we serve in our efforts to alleviate the suffering of the innocent and provide secure havens of hope and peace around the world,” said Mr. Hackett, a parishioner of St. Louis, Clarksville, in a Nov. 7 letter to the new archbishop of Baltimore. “I spent time in Ethiopia this summer and saw firsthand the importance of our work among the impoverished, the sick, the vulnerable, and the desperate.”

The letter went on to say the donation for “Operation Rice Bowl” goes a long way in helping CRS continue its mission to respect the sanctity of life and recognize the dignity of the people it assists.

“I thank you for leading the faithful in the St. Vincent de Paul Society to live their faith in solidarity with the poor and marginalized people overseas,” Mr. Hackett said.
