College of Notre Dame launches program in Panama

College of Notre Dame of Maryland, Baltimore, now offers its master of arts in teaching program in Panama, where a need for special education teachers has been identified. Classes will be held at a university in Panama City and taught by Notre Dame faculty from May through October. Students will then travel to the United States in November to continue classes on the Baltimore campus and student-teach in Baltimore City schools from March through May. The program will give students dual certification in special education and elementary or secondary education. Upon graduation in May 2008, students will teach for two years in the Baltimore City public school system.
