College celebrates Notre Dame Day

Students, faculty and staff at College of Notre Dame of Maryland, Baltimore, celebrated the achievements of their community at the annual Notre Dame Day Feb. 12.

Students were recognized for being named to the dean’s list and Who’s Who, and student leadership and academic awards were presented.

One of the biggest honors given during the event is the Distinguished Staff Award, offered annually to a staff member who exhibits outstanding competence and performance in her/his area of responsibility.

Theresa Arnove, assistant director of human resources, received a plaque as the recipient of the Distinguished Staff Award. A Parkville resident and six-year staff member, Ms. Arnove participates in many campus and community activities, such as chairing the annual staff fundraiser and serving as student class/club advisor. In the community, she has volunteered countless hours at Boys Hope Girls Hope and with the United Way of Central Maryland.

The second most recognized award of the day was presented to five-year staff member Theresa Wiseman, director of media relations and a 1990 alumna, by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. The S.S.N.D. Mission and Ministry Award is given to a faculty or staff member who exemplifies the spiritual values and educational vision of the college’s founders. Mrs. Wiseman, a St. Ignatius, Hickory, parishioner, and Bel Air resident, received a framed certificate and bronze medallion of the School Sisters’ seal.

“I am very proud and honored to have received it,” she said. “It’s a great community-building day.”

The event included lunch and a faculty member speaker.
