Church Chatter: From ravioli in Little Italy to a winning video in Fallston

Annual ravioli dinner in Little Italy has a special guest
On the first of two ravioli-making sessions, more than 75 volunteers prepared 7,800 “consistent” ravioli in anticipation of the March 2 Ravioli and Spaghetti Dinner at St. Leo the Great in Little Italy, according to parish office manager Lisa Portera. At the Sunday event, which takes place from noon to 6 p.m. at 227 S. Exeter St., Baltimore Md. 21202, guests will also be able to buy baked goods and used books and play game wheels. Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children (dine-in, school hall), and carryout (church hall) will cost an additional 50 cents.
According to the parish Facebook page, actor and author Joe Gannascoli (from “The Sopranos”) is scheduled to make an appearance from noon to 4 p.m. for a book signing of his culinary novel, “A Meal to Die For.” The book and an autographed photo will be available for $25.
New Italian nonprofit in Harford County to donate to St. Margaret
Harford County is now home to a new charitable group intent on helping other nonprofits in the area, assisting the education of young students through the support of scholarships, promoting the Italian heritage and working to maintain a positive community image. Beginning in May 2013, the Society of Italian American Businessmen (S.I.A.B.) started meeting, and now have more than 17 members. The Outreach Ministry of St. Margaret in Bel Air is slated to receive the first donation from SIAB, during the Italian group’s April 11 gala.
The donation for the Outreach Ministry will help many arms of the parish including the Cooperative Food Ministry, FCCAU Welcome One Shelter and the Birthright Pregnancy Resource Center.

Marylanders to march on 35th anniversary of the state’s March for Life
Marylanders have been marching in Annapolis in support of the pro-life cause since 1979. At the rally portion of the annual event, this year held on March 10, the speakers will be Ryan Bomberger of the Radiance Foundation and radio personality Tracy Tiernan of WRBS, Baltimore’s Positive Hits Station. Bishop Mitchell T. Rozanski will also preside over the Catholic Mass while Pastor Lisa Yerby-Bryson of the St. Abraham Church will lead the nondenominational service.
Mass for the March for Life will be held at 5:15 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Annapolis, 109 Duke of Gloucester St. in Annapolis. Following Mass, there will be a short walk to Lawyer’s Mall for a one-hour rally. A “mixer” at St. Mary’s High School will follow the rally.
St. Mark in Fallston makes a video impression at Mount 2000
According to the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s Division of Youth and Young Adult Ministry “2-minute newsletter,” young people from St. Mark Church in Fallston were among the winners of a video contest sponsored by Mount 2000. Their winning entry was titled, “What does the Church Say?” and has had more than 14,600 views on Youtube.
