Biblical scholar to deliver lecture

Bishop N.T. Wright, Anglican bishop of Durham, England, and one of the world’s most prominent biblical theologians, will deliver the 40th Anniversary Lectures at the Ecumenical Institute of Theology at St. Mary’s Seminary and University, Roland Park, Feb. 25-26. The lecture series, part of the Ecumenical Institute’s celebration of 40 years of theological education in Baltimore, will be titled “The Bible and the Future.”

The author of some 50 books and hundreds of articles, chapters, lectures, and videos, Bishop Wright is best known for his ground-breaking scholarly books on Jesus and Paul including “Jesus and the Victory of God, The Resurrection of the Son of God,” and “Paul: In Fresh Perspective.” Bishop Wright has also written for the layperson, including books like “Evil and the Justice of God,” “Judas and the Gospel of Jesus,” and “Simply Christian,” hailed as the 21st-century’s version of the C.S. Lewis classic “Mere Christianity.”

The schedule for Bishop Wright’s lectures is as follows:

Feb. 25, 8 p.m. – “The Bible and Tomorrow’s World”

Feb. 26, 4 p.m. – “The Bible and Tomorrow’s Church”

Feb. 26, 8 p.m. – “The Bible and Tomorrow’s Christian”

The lectures are free and open to the public. A book signing will precede each one.
