Baltimore Catholic School to Deliver Items Collected to Victims of Hurricane Katrina

Students of St. William of York Catholic School in West Baltimore have collected water, Gatorade, canned goods, school supplies and toiletries for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and the husband of principal, Noreen Heffner will be driving the collected items to a distribution site in Lake St. Charles, LA, tomorrow.

Students, parents and members of the St. William of York School community will be loading the truck and trailer during their Back to School Night beginning at 6:30 p.m. today. The truck is due to depart the school parking lot at 2 p.m. Friday.

St. William of York School is located at 600 Cooks Lane in Baltimore.

Cardinal William H. Keeler, Archbishop of Baltimore, has asked each parish in the Archdiocese to take up a collection for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and he has also asked the schools of the archdiocese to accept students from the affected region. To date, 24 children from the Gulf Coast have been enrolled in Catholic schools in Baltimore.
