Since 1809, Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of Baltimore have educated young men and women of all races and creeds, helping each to discover their God-given gifts and talents. For the past 13 years, the Annual Archdiocesan Gala has served as a way to celebrate the legacy of our schools, students and teachers while also raising important tuition assistance funding which helps the Archdiocese to provide the opportunity of a Catholic education to those who may otherwise not be able to afford it.
Since 2009, $8.5 million has been raised with over $4 million going toward tuition assistance scholarships, representing more than 1,600 scholarships created from Gala proceeds.
Last year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were unable to hold our in-person event. But knowing that our Catholic schools were playing a critically important role during the pandemic, our Gala Executive Committee decided to proceed with its sponsorship-raising initiative. In what can only be described as an inspiring and humbling experience, so many of our community partners and friends stepped-up to support the Gala initiative. When all was said-and-done, we had raised enough to award critical tuition assistance to more than 220 students; enough to fill an entire Catholic school!
A year later, with the pandemic still very much a part of our lives, we again will not be able to hold our black-tie affair. However, we have seen first-hand how important our Catholic schools have been to our students, families and communities – especially the marginalized and underserved.
