Holy Hours for Life

“If everyone prayed one hour of Adoration a week, there would be no abortion.” –Mother Teresa

First, ask your pastor for his blessing in planning a Holy Hour for Life and, of course, for his participation.

Second, choose a date (or multiple dates – weekly, monthly, quarterly) and check the parish calendar.  Also check with your pastor to ensure that it is a liturgically appropriate date.  The Holy Hour can begin after a Mass or can be designated from an already set time for Adoration.

Third, provide your pastor with suggestions for prayers.  The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops suggests the following Holy Hour for Life.  The Respect Life Office of the Archdiocese of Baltimore has a Holy Hour for Life Booklet free for downloading.

If the Holy Hour follows a Mass, you can also suggest to your pastor Pro-life Petitions to use during the Mass.

If your pastor allows, you could invite a church musician to play and sing during the Mass.

If parishioners are interested, you could encourage some to pray at a local abortion facility during the Holy Hour.  To find your local abortion facility, contact life@archbalt.org.
