More than 750 New Catholics to Enter the Church in the Archdiocese this Easter
More than 750 new Catholics will enter the Catholic Church at Easter Vigil Masses Saturday night in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. A total of 765 catechumens (the un-baptized) and candidates (already Baptized in another Christian Church) will participate in the celebration of initiation at these vigil Masses, and increase from last year’s total of 702.
During Saturday’s Easter Vigil Masses, the catechumens will receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist and the candidates will be received into the full communion of the Catholic Church.
Last year, 150,000 new and returning Catholics joined the Catholic Church in the United States. There are more than 1.1 billion Catholics throughout the world.
Archbishop William E. Lori will celebrate the Easter Vigil Mass at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in North Baltimore Saturday at 8 p.m.
