World Meeting of Families
What is the World Meeting of Families?
The World Meeting is being held in Philadelphia and begins with a Theological Pastoral Congress on Tuesday, September 22 and concludes on Friday, September 25, 2015. Following the Congress, there will be a Festival of Families on Saturday, September 26 and a Mass, with Pope Francis, on Sunday September 27 on the Parkway in downtown Philadelphia.
The World Meeting of Families is an international event of prayer, catechesis, and celebration that draws participants from around the globe. It seeks to strengthen the bonds between families and to witness to the crucial importance of marriage and the family to all of society. The breakouts and keynotes will be available in many languages.
The Synod of Bishops on the Family - Rome, October 2015
Bishops and representatives from around the world will meet at the Vatican to discuss the Challenges of Families today. The bishops have been asked to provide input on a number of questions in a survey related to the pastoral care of families. This Vatican survey of the Bishops on "The Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Church and in the Modern World" has been distributed to all parishes of the Archdiocese for consultation with parishioners. Who is invited to the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia?
All are welcome at the WMOF 2015 –all faiths, ages, and walks of life. There are many activities to attend during the World Meeting, with fun activities for all ages, whatever their situation, including singles, married couples with or without children, extended families, and clergy.

How is the Archdiocese of Baltimore preparing for the World Meeting?
Archbishop Lori has sent a letter to parishes encouraging them to promote the World Meeting to their parish families and their staff members. Pastors are invited to appoint a contact person from each parish to liaison with the Archdiocese Family Life Office for news and updates on participation. Contact the Department of Evangelization for more information on the World Meeting and Baltimore.
