Evangelization not simply one program among many, but rather it is the guiding principle upon which all aspects of parish life are oriented; it is the lens through with all of parish life is viewed.

The three goals of Catholic Evangelization in the United States are:

• To bring about in all Catholics such an enthusiasm for their faith that as they live their faith in Jesus they freely share it with others.
• To reach out and invite to the Catholic Church those who have no faith community and those who no longer practice their Catholic faith and to welcome those who seek full communion with the Catholic Church.
• To foster Gospel values in our society, promoting the dignity of the human person, the importance of the family and to carry Good News through the works of justice, charity and peace.

GREAT PARISH RESOURCE!! Our office has completed a new discussion guide for a great evangelization resource for evangelizing parishes.  Robert River's "From Maintenance to Mission: Evangelization and Revitalization of the Parish" Paulist Press, 2005, takes the faithful for through the history and vision of evangelization in the United States and offer concrete insights and strategies for growing our parish efforts of Sharing the Good News.  Discussion Guide for From Maintenance to Mission.  Also, here is a basic step by step model for using this guide in a book club format: Guide for Forming a Book Discussion Group.
