These procedures have been developed to assist the Responsible Administrators and Screening Coordinators in the Covered Entities of the Archdiocese of Baltimore to implement and comply with the Statement of Policy for the Protection of Children & Youth.

There are specific procedures applicable to each of the three categories of persons covered in the policy:

  • Volunteers
  • Employees
  • Priests, Deacons, Seminarians, and Religious

Covered Entities may not hire or assign an individual who chooses not to complete all requirements of these procedures.

Questionable or unfavorable CJIS/Fingerprint Checks shall be reviewed by the Director of the Human Resources or his/her designees. Questionable or unfavorable VolunteerSelect Criminal History Screenings shall be reviewed by the Director of the Office of Child and Youth Protection or his/her designee.  In such cases, services provided by the individual may continue only after written approval is received from the Director of Human Resources or the Director of the Office of Child and Youth Protection.

Failure to follow and document all steps outlined in this binder, Procedures for Implementation and Compliance, may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination, for those responsible for the proper screening of employees and volunteers at a parish and/or school.
